Its location couldn't be more idyllic, located in the historic Maffei Building at the top of Piazza Erbe in an area that was once a Roman forum. A large outdoor terrace offers a buzzing dining scene, especially during summer when an early evening menu offer opera-inspired dishes. Inside, a more elegant dining room laden with historic pillars, period wine cellar and terrace dining space entertains a more local dining crowd in the off-season with delightful local staff of waiters that are as entertaining as they are attractive.
The Food
The kitchen presents seasonally the menu of local meats and fish with prix fixe tasting options that change from season to season. Dishes like House-made fettuccine or gnocchi in a rabbit ragout, Irish beef filet carpaccio or Smoked trout and salmon with trout eggs are delightful first courses followed by braised beef in Valpolicella red wine sauce, sesame-seed crusted tuna with a tomato foam or large penne with an absolutely vegetarian “carbonara” sauce for non-meat eaters.
